Been Out Seeing the World!

After a long absence I thought I'd check in! Yes, Ken retired and we've continued to travel, often on cruises. We visit Lunenburg, Nova Scotia every summer, and last winter we spent two months in Italy, Switzerland and France with our Lunenburg neighbors. Back home in California, we were happy to see our cats, but we missed life on the road. In May we joined friends we'd met on a cruise to Mexico and sailed from Puerto Rico to St. Maarten, across the Atlantic for 6 days, to the Canary Islands (three of them: Tenerife, Gran Canaria & Lanzarote), Madeira and our final destination, Malaga in Spain. It makes for a long flight to return home! On the cruise, people talked about picking up a second cruise for a return home if the first had been for repositioning. What a great idea! We'll tuck that away for another time! We've got four weeks back home, and are nearly ready to head to Lunenburg again for another summer.

Best of all, we'll stop along the way in Chicago to see our grandson, born October 16th! And still better, he and his folks are flying up to Nova Scotia the day after we do, so we get to visit longer with them there as well! It's going to be a good summer!

Thank You Shutterfly!

I'm happy to let people know what a wonderful site this is for saving photos and creating books and cards. I've ordered cards for friends and family summer birthdays...can't wait to see them!

Vacation Memories

A week ago we were still in Spain just having visited the Canary Islands.  This cathedral is on the island of Gran Canaria, and while it looks Gothic and quite oild, it was begun in 1917.  Having been traveling with friends for three weeks, I have an overload of photos, but whittled down to this one for today.  It's in the town of Arucas, and we had time there to enjoy the local park, a wonderful public art exhibit and a cold beer in the shade of this awesome building.  Good memories!

An Orange Sort of Day

My art group met for lunch today in the city of Orange and were so glad we had a reservation!  The town was filled with new college graduates, each with an average of eight family members, all dining in the restaurants lining the streets in old town.  What perfect weather for this small-town feel in the heart of bustling Orange County.

They always said that being a grandparent is *The Best*!

We're just back from visiting our 6 mo old grandson and we're over the moon about him!  While it may be a few years before he can read for himself, I sent him a card so he'll know we were there from the day he was born and hope to see him often.
